Job summary

Avalara’s AI-first culture seeks a senior product/program manager to own the CMS template and component library, define scope and guardrails, and ensure authors publish on-brand and efficiently.

You will define data capture, guide localization, and improve usability to reduce authoring effort while delivering measurable platform improvements across teams. This role blends technical leadership with business impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field.
• 7+ years in technical program or product management for web content platforms.
• Direct experience with template or component library ownership at senior level.
• Experience defining requirements for SEO, tagging, and asset management (DAM).
• Demonstrated use of AI tools to improve governance, ops, or author enablement.
• Track record raising performance of teams and processes.

Responsibilities

• Own and govern the CMS template and component library, defining scope, limits, and supported features.
• Set design and feature boundaries to reinforce brand consistency and ROI.
• Define data to capture across templates and components to understand visitor behavior.
• Be the primary source of truth on platform capabilities for stakeholders, with clear explanations.
• Guide internationalization/localization workflows for publishing across geographies.
• Improve usability of templates/components, lowering learning curve for authors.
• Demonstrate platform functionality to stakeholders and translate tech potential into business value.
• Identify platform shortcomings and translate them into prioritized CMS requirements.
• Identify gaps in content analytics and reporting tools and define improvements.
• Define constraints in authoring to protect SEO, tagging, and asset integrity.
• Define asset management strategy and oversee metadata standards.
• Use AI to accelerate work and help authors without deep CMS knowledge.
