Job summary

Great Hire is seeking a seasoned CMM programmer and metrology lead in Buena Park, CA. You will drive CMM program creation, inspection strategy, and process improvements for aluminum die casting parts, mentoring operators and coordinating with engineering and quality teams.

Responsibilities include GD&T interpretation, CSP/PPAP readiness, and audits support, with a focus on accuracy, repeatability, and data-driven quality improvements in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years of hands-on CMM programming in a manufacturing environment.
• Advanced proficiency in PC-DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent CMM software.
• Expert-level understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and blueprint reading.
• Proven experience with SPC, MSA, and corrective action processes.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and other quality systems.
• Familiarity with aluminum die casting or metal component production.

Responsibilities

• Lead the creation, modification, and optimization of CMM programs using PC-DMIS, Calypso, or other software.
• Perform First Article Inspections, in-process measurements, and final inspections on aluminum die cast parts.
• Interpret GD&T specifications to ensure conformance with tight tolerances.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production to support design validation and root cause analysis.
• Train and mentor junior CMM operators and establish programming standards.
• Develop and maintain inspection reports, work instructions, and calibration records.
• Evaluate and implement new metrology technologies to enhance capabilities.
• Serve as SME for CMM operations during audits, PPAP submissions, and internal reviews.
