Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead cloud architecture and integration across hybrid on‑prem to AWS, with focus on secure, scalable government‑grade solutions. The role covers architecture, security, verification, DevSecOps, and AI‑assisted engineering, guiding design in Scaled Agile teams rather than daily coding.

Due to federal security requirements, the candidate must be a United States Citizen with an active Public Trust clearance and willing to work on a W2 basis.

Qualifications

• Proven cloud architecture and technical planning for hybrid on‑prem to AWS.
• Hands‑on with ECS, EKS, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Helm and related pipelines.
• Experience with regulated environments (FISMA High / FedRAMP High).
• Security architecture focusing on SSP/ATO mappings and segmentation.
• Networking across ALB, WAF, PrivateLink and enterprise access patterns.
• Migration of containerized workloads to AWS GovCloud and multi‑account designs.
• DevSecOps toolchain including GitLab, Tekton, Argo CD, SBOM and secrets mgmt.
• Scaled Agile collaboration and Java/microservices cloud development.

Responsibilities

• Lead cloud architecture and technical planning for hybrid designs across VPCs and regions.
• Conduct platform trade studies and sizing for ECS, EKS, and OpenShift with cost/effort modeling.
• Drive integration, verification and validation, and fielding within high‑security boundaries.
• Design security architecture with trust boundaries and SSP/ATO mappings.
• Engineer networking patterns: ALB, WAF, PrivateLink, endpoints, and related access.
• Own requirements development, technical writing, and papers authorship.
• Provide guidance to developers/testers within Scaled Agile teams.
• Lead hardware/software integration and cloud system design for Java/microservices.
• Apply DevSecOps, CI/CD, security scanning, SBOM, image signing, and secrets management.
• Incorporate AI for coding, requirements, tests, and debugging.
