Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to guide cloud architecture and security across hybrid on‑prem to AWS environments for a US government‑related client. The role emphasizes architecture, integration, verification, and AI‑assisted engineering rather than daily coding.

Candidates must hold a US citizen status with active Public Trust clearance and be willing to work on a W2 basis. Rate: $60–$70/hr. Medical, dental, vision, 401k matching, and life insurance are provided.

Qualifications

Proven cloud architecture and technical planning experience for hybrid on‑prem to AWS systems.
Hands‑on with ECS, EKS, and OpenShift including Kubernetes, Helm, policies, routes, and pipelines.
Track record in integration, V&V, and fielding for regulated environments such as FISMA High or FedRAMP High.
Security architecture experience with segmentation and control mapping to SSP and ATO.
Networking expertise across ingress, ALB, WAF, PrivateLink, endpoints, and related patterns.
On‑prem to AWS migration of containerized workloads, including data connectivity for databases and rollback planning.
AWS GovCloud and multi‑account VPC design, with DMZ and private tiers.
DevSecOps toolchain with GitLab, Tekton, Argo CD, SAST/DAST/SCA, SBOM, and secrets management.
Scaled Agile collaboration and clear technical decision communication.
Familiarity with Java ecosystems, microservices, REST, and cloud‑native Linux development.
Demonstrated AI‑assisted engineering for development and testing.

Responsibilities

Lead technical planning and cloud architecture for hybrid on‑prem to AWS designs across VPCs and GovCloud.
Conduct platform trade studies and sizing for ECS, EKS, and OpenShift with cost and effort modeling.
Drive integration, verification, and fielding within FISMA High boundaries, including GovCloud cutover.
Design security architecture including trust boundaries and SSP/ATO alignment.
Engineer networking patterns, including ALB, WAF, PrivateLink, and endpoints.
Own requirements development and technical writing, including white papers.
Provide system and software design guidance to developers in Scaled Agile teams.
Lead hardware and software integration for Java and microservices ecosystems.
Apply DevSecOps practices, CI/CD, security scanning, SBOM, image signing, and secrets management.
Incorporate AI for coding, requirements, tests, and debugging.
