Job summary

IBM Software seeks a Senior Cloud Security Engineer with a strong software and infra engineering background to design and build scalable security capabilities across cloud environments. You will lead preventative controls, automated guardrails, and secure-by-default patterns within engineering workflows.

You will mentor engineers, drive architecture reviews, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to reduce cloud risk and improve security postures across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background in infrastructure, platform, cloud, or security engineering.
• Hands-on cloud security experience with AWS and/or Azure (IAM, networking, compute, containers/Kubernetes).
• Solid IaC experience with Terraform and secure infrastructure patterns.
• Experience embedding security into CI/CD and engineering workflows with automated guardrails.
• Ability to lead complex cloud security initiatives and communicate risks and trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of cloud security architecture and engineering solutions across AWS, Azure, GCP, and other cloud environments.
• Architect and build production-quality security tooling and automation using Go/Golang and Python, integrating security into workflows.
• Design preventative security controls and automated guardrails using Terraform and IaC for secure deployments.
• Establish scalable security patterns across IAM, networking, workloads, containers/Kubernetes, secrets management, PKI, and workload protection.
• Design and integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows to shift security earlier in the lifecycle.
• Provide technical leadership for cloud security initiatives, driving architecture to implementation.
• Identify systemic cloud security risks and translate them into reusable engineering patterns and controls.
• Partner with platform, infrastructure, product, and security teams for architecture reviews of secure services.
• Improve CSPM/CNAPP, vulnerability management, detection, and monitoring capabilities.
