Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to provide architecture and engineering leadership across hybrid cloud platforms, spanning on-premises to AWS environments. The role requires collaboration with Scaled Agile teams, security and verification activities, and AI-assisted engineering techniques.

The position is a hybrid contract role based in Ashburn, VA or Gaithersburg, MD, with W2 benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401k matching, and life insurance.

Qualifications

• Proven cloud architecture and technical planning for hybrid on-prem to AWS.
• Hands-on with ECS, EKS, and OpenShift including Kubernetes, Helm, and pipelines.
• Experience with V&V and fielding in regulated environments (FISMA FedRAMP).
• Security architecture with segmentation and SSP/ATO mapping.
• Strong networking patterns and enterprise access design.

Responsibilities

• Lead cloud architecture for hybrid on-prem to AWS across VPCs, GovCloud and commercial regions.
• Conduct platform trade studies and sizing for ECS, EKS, and OpenShift with cost/effort modeling.
• Drive integration, verification, validation, and fielding within high security boundaries.
• Design security architecture including trust boundaries and control mappings.
• Engineer networking patterns including ALB, WAF, PrivateLink and endpoints.
• Provide system/software design guidance within Scaled Agile teams.
• Lead hardware/software integration and cloud system design for Java/microservices ecosystems.
• Apply DevSecOps practices across CI/CD, security scans, SBOM, and secrets management.
• Incorporate AI-assisted engineering for coding, testing and analysis.
