Job summary

Docker is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Cloud Sandboxes team to design and build core services powering its cloud agentic platform. You will create scalable, secure infrastructure to deploy and manage multi-tenant workloads and contribute to high-availability systems.

Collaborate with product, security, and platform teams, participate in architecture and code reviews, and drive CI/CD improvements across the deployment pipeline while on-call to resolve production issues.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend software engineering experience in cloud or distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Go and/or Java.
• Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
• Experience designing highly available, secure, observable production systems.
• Strong cloud infrastructure knowledge (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Familiarity with CI/CD, monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code tooling.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging in distributed environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration across remote teams.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate core services powering Docker’s Cloud Sandboxes platform.
• Build scalable systems for microVM orchestration, workload scheduling, and lifecycle management.
• Develop high-performance APIs and control plane components for multi-tenant workloads.
• Ensure reliability, observability, and performance across Cloud Sandbox infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product, platform, and security teams to deliver customer-focused capabilities.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and design docs.
• Contribute to automation and CI/CD improvements across deployment pipeline.
• Debug and resolve production issues across distributed systems in cloud environments.
• Take part in on-call rotation and drive reliability improvements.
