Job summary

Docker, Inc is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in Networking to define the networking stack for Docker’s Sandboxes platform. Lead architectural decisions affecting Docker’s AI, security, and deployment products.

You will oversee core networking services, build scalable microVM networking, and drive reliability and observability across local and public cloud environments with a focus on security and performance.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience building and leading large-scale cloud or distributed systems, focused on networking
Experience with microservices, container networking, service mesh, policy enforcement, and orchestration
Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and scalable patterns
Bachelor's degree in CS or related field or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and operate core networking services for Docker's Sandboxes across local and cloud environments
Build scalable networking infrastructure for microVM orchestration and workload scheduling
Develop high-performance network data- and control-plane components for multi-tenant workloads
Ensure network reliability, observability, and performance across Sandbox infrastructure
Collaborate with product, platform, and security teams on customer-focused capabilities
Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and design docs
Contribute to automation and CI/CD improvements across deployment pipelines
Debug and resolve production issues in distributed systems and on-call rotations
