Job summary

Venmo is seeking a Senior Cloud/DevOps Engineer focused on Business Continuity to enhance resilience across our AWS environment. You will mentor engineers, drive best practices, and own critical incident readiness.

The role blends hands-on coding with architectural leadership in a fast-paced fintech setting. We value independence, strong communication, and a proven track record in designing disaster recovery, backup tooling, and chaos engineering to ensure services stay online and recover

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 3+ years of software development or related field.
• 3+ years operating distributed applications 24x7x365 as part of a Cloud Engineering, DevOps, and/or SRE team.

Responsibilities

• Act as a hands-on contributor while leading by example.
• Mentor junior engineers.
• Be part of a team dedicated to driving scalability and reliability of Venmo’s AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Define the design, identify stakeholders, navigate risks and changes, coordinate colleagues’ work, implement solutions, and be accountable for timely and quality project delivery.
• Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures.
• Develop and maintain backup and restore tooling and processes for critical systems and data.
