Job summary

Venmo is seeking a Senior Cloud/DevOps Engineer to deliver end-to-end SDLC solutions, mentor junior engineers, and drive best practices across AWS cloud infrastructure. The role emphasizes autonomy, scalability, and reliability in a high-availability environment.

You will work with a team focused on cloud engineering, CI/CD pipelines, security, and deployment automation, with a strong emphasis on performance and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in computer science or related field.
• 5+ years' experience in software development or a related field.
• 3+ years' experience operating distributed applications 24x7x365, as part of a Cloud Engineering, DevOps, and/or SRE team.
• Extensive hands-on experience with designing, implementing and supporting infrastructure (AWS experience preferred).
• Hands-on programming and scripting (Python, Java, Bash, Go).
• Hands-on experience with containers & container orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Delivers complete SDLC solutions and advises management on project-level issues.
• Guides junior engineers and operates with limited supervision.
• Be a hands-on contributor, mentor, and drive best practices in development and operations.
• Define design, coordinate stakeholders, manage risks, and ensure timely delivery of projects.
• Contribute to scalability and reliability of Venmo’s AWS cloud infrastructure.
