Job summary

Venmo, a PayPal subsidiary, is seeking an Engineering Manager – Cloud/DevOps to lead a team that keeps our services reliable and scalable. You’ll shape the technical vision, mentor engineers, and partner with product, security and SRE teams.

You’ll own CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, incident response, and production readiness while driving reliability, security, and delivery excellence in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience and 2+ years of engineering management experience.
• Strong technical background in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE.
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform; proven ability to hire and retain top engineering talent.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of Cloud/DevOps engineers, providing mentorship, coaching, and career development.
• Define and communicate team goals, OKRs, and roadmaps in alignment with organizational priorities.
• Partner with staff engineers and architects to set technical direction and drive strategic infrastructure initiatives.
• Own hiring and team composition, including interviewing, leveling, and onboarding.
• Facilitate agile ceremonies and remove blockers to keep the team productive and focused.
• Drive operational excellence by championing best practices in reliability, security, and delivery.
• Manage relationships with cross-functional stakeholders, translating business needs into engineering workstreams.
• Monitor team health, developer experience, and delivery metrics, adjusting plans as needed.
