Job summary

System One is seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join our hybrid team in Lafayette, LA. The role focuses on hands-on engineering across AWS analytics environments, with emphasis on SageMaker and ML tooling.

You will build automation, modernize enterprise analytics platforms, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable cloud solutions while documenting processes and supporting migrations and decommissioning efforts.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of cloud engineering or DevOps experience.
• Extensive hands-on AWS experience in cloud-native environments.
• Proven AWS SageMaker experience or similar ML platforms.
• Proficiency in Python, Shell, or similar scripting languages.
• Practical knowledge of Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.

Overview

System One is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to strengthen its enterprise Analytics, Data Science, and Machine Learning platforms. This role provides hands on engineering support across AWS based analytics environments, with a strong focus on AWS SageMaker and related Data Science tooling.

This position is required in one of the following locations: Lafayette, LA, Knoxville, TN, Birmingham, AL

Responsibilities

• Build automation to enhance platform reliability and security across AWS environments.
• Drive modernization efforts of enterprise Analytics, Data Science, and Machine Learning platforms.
• Collaborate with platform engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver system enhancements.
• Resolve complex technical issues related to cloud infrastructure and data science tooling.
• Implement security measures, including IAM and access controls, and reduce manual operational work through automation.
• Support migration, decommissioning, and legacy system closeout initiatives.
• Document processes clearly and work effectively with security, DevOps, application teams, and vendors.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering.
• Extensive hands on experience with AWS services in a cloud-native environment.
• Proven experience working with AWS SageMaker or similar enterprise ML/Data Science platforms.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation with Python, Shell, or similar languages.
• Practical knowledge of Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Experience securing cloud environments (IAM, access controls, vulnerability remediation).
• Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools and performance tuning.
• Some exposure to cloud cost optimization or FinOps practices.
• Ability to automate operational tasks to reduce manual efforts.
• Capable of creating clear documentation and collaborating across teams.
