Job summary

O'Reilly Auto Parts seeks a Principal Platform Engineer to lead the design and modernization of our infrastructure, ensuring scalable, secure platforms across cloud and on‑prem environments. You will drive architectural decisions, develop long‑term roadmaps, and mentor engineering teams to deliver high‑impact digital capabilities.

The role emphasizes cost-effective, resilient systems and close collaboration with security and product teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in designing and leading large-scale infrastructure initiatives.
• Strong understanding of current enterprise architecture and governance.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and automation tooling.
• Scripting ability in Bash/Powershell/Python for automation.
• Familiarity with containerized environments and CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee infrastructure developments and maintenance to meet business requirements.
• Drive advances in technologies and architectures to increase value and reduce costs.
• Create/manage project storyboards and lead successful implementations.
• Document current and future state processes and migration steps.
• Develop and maintain enterprise readiness and change management plans.
• Support security incident detection and remediation.
• Manage private and public cloud infrastructure and automation tooling.
• Contribute to quarterly and yearly platform roadmapping.
