Job summary

Orion Innovation is seeking an experienced Database Systems Engineer to support enterprise relational databases both on-premise and in cloud environments. You will migrate data stores across technologies, implement high availability, and optimize performance while collaborating with scientists and engineers.

The role requires hands-on AWS, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB expertise, plus automation via shell scripting and familiarity with Apache/Tomcat servers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience managing commercial database systems (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Experience migrating databases to AWS cloud (RDS, EC2).
• Hands-on with AWS Schema Conversion Tool and AWS DMS.
• 2+ years in AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3).
• Experience in Oracle ASM, RAC, RMAN, and Data Guard.
• Knowledge of authentication protocols: LDAP, SSL, SSH.
• Ability to automate tasks via shell scripting.
• Experience with application servers such as Apache or Tomcat.
• Excellent communication with architects, data modelers, developers, and scientists.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise on Enterprise database solutions including Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
• Collaborate with cloud integration teams to migrate data stores to cloud.
• Analyze migration requirements and coordinate with storage teams for data relocations.
• Implement high-availability database solutions.
• Partner with scientists and clients on data integration and performance optimization.
• Provide operations support for servers, databases, apps, and networking.
• Interpret data and deliver insights to help prioritize business needs.
