Job summary

Floor & Decor is seeking an IT Database Engineer to design, implement, and support relational database platforms across traditional data centers and Azure cloud environments. You will handle installation, configuration, performance tuning, HA/DR, backup strategies, monitoring, and on-call incident response for MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.

You will work with application and development teams, ensure data integrity, and contribute to documentation, standards, and operational procedures for both

Qualifications

• Experience administering MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL in production.
• Experience in both on-premises data centers and Azure cloud.
• Ability to design backup and recovery plans.
• Scripting for automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Understanding of security, networking, and OS impacts on DB performance.
• On-call incident response capability.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL in data center and Azure environments (IaaS and/or PaaS).
• Perform day-to-day database administration including user/role management and maintenance tasks.
• Monitor database health and define alerts/dashboards for proactive issue detection.
• Troubleshoot incidents and drive root-cause analysis and fixes.
• Design and maintain backup and recovery strategies and test restores.
• Implement high availability and DR configurations (Always On, log shipping, replication).
• Optimize performance via indexing, query tuning, and configuration tuning.
• Ensure security controls and encryption at rest/in transit.
• Support development teams with database design and deployment of schema changes.
• Maintain runbooks, topology diagrams, data flows, and procedures.
