Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Senior Migration Engineer for GitLab Dedicated to partner with customers on migrations from self-managed GitLab to GitLab Dedicated. You will use GitLab Geo to replicate data and guide customers through cutover with strong communication and project ownership.

Role requires hands-on infrastructure as code, Kubernetes production experience, and cloud provider knowledge (AWS/GCP/Azure). The team is globally distributed and remote.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering customer-facing migrations, installations, or technical advisory engagements.
• Solid understanding of Git and source control workflows; experience with GitLab is a plus.
• Experience with infrastructure as code / configuration as code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Puppet, Chef).
• Hands-on experience running Kubernetes workloads in production and debugging issues.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and network connectivity design.

Responsibilities

• Deliver migrations from initial assessment to planning, replication, cutover, and post-migration validation.
• Use GitLab Geo to replicate data and ensure migrations stay on track.
• Design network connectivity within GitLab Dedicated constraints (VPCs, private connectivity, DNS, firewall rules).
• Apply IaC/Config-as-code practices to GitLab Dedicated environments.
• Advise customers on migration sequencing, cutover windows, and integration needs.
• Improve tooling, scripts, and runbooks for reliable, repeatable delivery.
• Collaborate with Sales, Professional Services, Product, and Engineering to address blockers and share field feedback.
• Manage multiple customer engagements with clear communication and outcomes.
