Job summary

CVS Health Digital is seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer to lead architecture and delivery of scalable healthcare technology solutions. You will guide distributed systems, mentor engineers, and partner with product and security teams to ensure secure, cloud‑native software that advances digital health experiences.

The role focuses on Java/JEE, Spring Boot, Kafka, and cloud-native platforms to drive API governance, data migration, and interoperability in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience in enterprise environments.
• 7+ years of experience developing applications using Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, and RESTful services
• 5+ years of experience designing and implementing microservices architectures
• 3+ years of experience with Apache Kafka or similar event-streaming technologies
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices
• 3+ years of experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• 2+ years of experience working with public cloud platforms, including GCP, AWS, or Azure

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and develop high-performance microservices using Java, JEE, Spring Boot, and RESTful services
• Lead development of event-driven services using Apache Kafka
• Own API strategy for RESTful services, ensuring consistent JSON modeling, backward-compatible versioning, and strong API governance
• Mentor team members and contribute to engineering standards, design reviews, and coding best practices
• Design and implement ETL pipelines for data migration and governance
• Collaborate on healthcare data interoperability using HL7/FHIR standards
