Job summary

Fastly, Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineer for Cloud and Container Services to scale and manage our Kubernetes-based control plane across multi-cloud and on-prem environments.

This role focuses on expanding platform capabilities, supporting users, and driving efficiency while maintaining a secure system. A successful candidate will have extensive Kubernetes experience, expertise in Go and Python, and a strong background in cloud provisioning (AWS/GCP), CI/CD, and monitoring.

Qualifications

• Experience running high availability systems and distributed infrastructure.
• Understanding of Linux systems and network tracing.
• Experience building and operating production-grade Kubernetes clusters across regions and clouds.
• Proficiency with Go and Python within large codebases; ability to add features and build tooling.
• Experience with Terraform and cloud provisioning (AWS, GCP).
• Experience with CI/CD and GitOps; working with GitHub pull requests.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate infrastructure (cloud, Fastly datacenter) to enable reliable and rapid deployment.
• Diagnose and resolve performance and reliability issues across the stack.
• Deploy and support complex 3rd party and internally developed applications.
• Write tools to automate maintenance and deployment of servers, services, and applications.
• Collaborate with internal users and evolve the platform and operations.
• Drive projects across time zones, independently or collaboratively.
• Configure access and manage operations within a multi-cloud environment.
