Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a System Development Engineer to join a global Data Center Engineering team responsible for design, development, automation, and continuous innovation within an expanding data center footprint.

You will work with cross-functional groups across AWS to drive reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency while mentoring peers and leading key initiatives. A Bachelor's degree and multi-language programming experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby experience
• 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 4+ years of systems development in an IT or data center environment experience
• 2+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experience
• Experience leading the design, build and deployment of complex and performant (reliable and scalable) software solutions in production
• Bachelor's degree

Responsibilities

• Work in a cross-disciplinary setting with ability to influence and drive others.
• Work has deep and far reaching impact on overall product design/solutions
• Advises peer engineers and management team.
• Make technical trade-offs between short-term project goals and long-term business needs.
• Develop common libraries and reusable modular components to accelerate build cycles.
• Simplify, optimize, and accelerate the software development cycle for data center controls products.
• Leverage economy of scale through standardization and modularization of data center controls products.
• Provide technical subject matter expertise to peers, senior management, and partner teams.
• Develop business justification and narratives to promote new concepts and ideas.
• Lead key initiatives for the organization while demonstrating complete ownership.
