A leading company in open source solutions is seeking a Senior Cloud FinOps Analyst to optimize cloud costs and drive financial strategies across hybrid cloud environments. Are you a data-driven strategist with a passion for optimizing cloud costs? Do you have experience managing complex multicloud environments and implementing cost-saving strategies? Red Hat's Hybrid Cloud Management (HCM) team is seeking a Senior Cloud FinOps Analyst to combine your cloud expertise with financial insight to optimize resource usage and drive financial strategies across our hybrid cloud environments.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in cloud financial management, a solid understanding of major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and the ability to connect technical teams with finance leadership. In this role, you'll use cloud financial management tools to monitor, forecast, and automate cost optimization strategies, ensuring efficient cloud resource utilization, particularly around Red Hat OpenShift on AWS (ROSA) and Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO).
You'll also use tools like AWS Cost Explorer and Cloudability to track, analyze, and optimize cloud spending. Additionally, you'll manage vendor relationships to secure the best pricing and cost structures for our cloud services.
The preferred location for this role is our Raleigh, NC office, but exceptional remote candidates based in North America will also be considered.
Analyze cloud cost trends to identify optimization opportunities and improve resource efficiency
Support contract negotiations, SLAs, and pricing with cloud vendors to ensure cost-effective terms
Develop and maintain financial models to forecast cloud costs based on historical data and usage patterns
Implement FinOps processes and tools to improve visibility and accountability in cloud spending
Create and present cloud cost reports and dashboards to management for decision-making
Collaborate with teams to forecast, track, and manage cloud expenses, ensuring alignment with budgets
Oversee vendor performance, check invoice accuracy, and ensure compliance with contracts and financial goals
Work with procurement to manage and track cloud service purchase orders, ensuring budget compliance
Serve as the primary contact for cloud service providers and vendors
Address vendor issues, including bug reports and enhancement requests (RFEs)
Communicate cloud cost data and insights to both technical and non-technical teams to promote financial awareness
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Business Administration, or related field
5+ years of experience in cloud financial operations or cost optimization in a large enterprise
Strong experience with cloud cost management tools (e.g., CloudHealth, Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management) and financial software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Strong understanding of cloud pricing, billing, and optimization
Experience managing projects in a technical environment, using tools like JIRA
Vendor management experience
Strong analytical skills with a focus on identifying issues, solutions, and continuous improvement
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical teams
Detail-oriented with a knack for identifying cost-saving opportunities
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
The following will be considered a plus:
Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., FinOps Certified Practitioner)
Experience in Kubernetes, OpenShift or other cloud-native technologies
Familiarity with Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) and Red Hat OpenShift on AWS (ROSA)
1+ years of experience working within the Hybrid Cloud Management organization
Pay Transparency
Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
