Job summary

Syngenta is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer / Technical Lead based in Durham, NC, to provide hands-on leadership across cloud platforms, data enablement, infrastructure automation, observability, HPC/AI workloads, and laboratory modernization.

You will design secure, scalable capabilities across AWS, Snowflake, Terraform Cloud, Datadog, SageMaker, and more, guiding cross-functional teams and influencing strategy with senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• Required: 5+ years in cloud/infrastructure engineering or related.
• Required: Advanced hands-on AWS and Terraform Cloud engineering.
• Required: Advanced hands-on Python coding.
• Required: Experience with Snowflake, Datadog, hybrid infrastructure, and container platforms.
• Requirement: Strong cloud networking, IAM, security, and resilience.
• Ability: Lead technical workstreams and communicate with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and support secure, resilient AWS and hybrid infrastructure.
• Lead infrastructure automation through Terraform Cloud, with reusable modules and CI/CD integration.
• Enable Snowflake workloads via network, identity, data movement, and monitoring designs.
• Establish observability and reliability with Datadog and AWS monitoring, dashboards, and alerts.
• Deliver HPC/AI/ML solutions with AWS ParallelCluster, Slurm, SageMaker, and scalable workloads.
• Lead laboratory modernization by translating lab needs into cloud, network, and storage designs.
• Provide architectural reviews, mentoring, risk management, and cost optimization guidance.
• Collaborate with engineering, research, data, cybersecurity, and leadership to adopt standards.
