Job summary

Aura is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to join the Family Product team. You will design, build, and optimize cloud-native applications and infrastructure, partnering with engineers, QA, product, and design to deliver scalable, secure solutions.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in cloud software, with Go, microservices, AWS experience (EC2, RDS, Route53), Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and strong networking knowledge. Experience shipping reliable, cost-efficient cloud systems is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software development focusing on cloud computing.
• Experience with developing microservices.
• Ability to design, extend, document and test APIs.
• Experience with AWS (EC2, RDS, Route53).
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
• Experience designing and maintaining a relational database.
• Experience with cloud security principles or monitoring tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, load balancing).
• Experience with version control (git) and understanding of git flow and GitHub Actions.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test cloud services, primarily written in Go.
• Develop architectural improvements across cloud services to increase stability and scalability.
• Instrument services to provide metrics to operations and support personnel.
• Implement automated tests that verify functionality, performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
• Collaborate with QA to author and review testing plans, strategies, and test cases.
• Partner with operations to develop deployment strategies, leveraging automation and containerization.
• Create and maintain documentation of services and systems.
• Gauge the effectiveness of existing systems and develop improvement strategies.
• Anticipate technical challenges and propose effective solutions.
• Maintain knowledge of Aura Family product features and underlying technical functionality.
• Champion and adhere to development processes and workflows, contributing to engineering methodologies.
• Independently solve complex technical problems and act as a technical leader.
