Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a backend software engineer to join our Public Cloud engineering team. You will design, develop, and operate large-scale distributed systems and AI-enabled back-end services across global data centers.

You will work with Java, Golang, Python, or Ruby, and apply Agile and TDD practices to deliver reliable, scalable software. Deep experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure tooling is required.

Qualifications

• Related technical degree required.
• 5+ years backend software development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Java, Go, Python, or Ruby.
• Experience owning and operating multiple instances of a critical service.
• Experience with Agile development and Test Driven Development.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, logging, and reporting applications.
• Experience with distributed databases such as Postgres.
• AI-first approach to engineering; using AI to move faster and contribute beyond core specialty.
• Experience using AI tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Cursor) in development workflows.
• Advanced prompt engineering skills and ability to craft precise prompts and system context.

Responsibilities

• Deliver cloud infrastructure automation tools, frameworks, workflows, and validation platforms on public cloud platforms.
• Design, develop, debug, and operate resilient distributed systems across data centers.
• Build and ship production-grade software with AI as a core part of development workflow.
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform.
• Write microservices on Kubernetes, Docker, Mesos.
• Design and orchestrate AI-agent integrations into human workflows.
• Contribute to building and maintaining the shared system context and standards.
• Critically evaluate code for correctness, quality, security, and performance.
• Participate in on-call rotation to keep services operational.
