Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a GovCloud Distributed Systems Software Engineer to design, build, and operate large-scale distributed systems across cloud platforms. You will work on AI-enabled back-end infrastructure, ensuring high availability and security for tens of millions of users.

The role requires deep expertise in Java, Golang, Python, or Ruby, plus experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform. You’ll balance live-site reliability with feature delivery and contribute to AI-driven tooling

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend software development experience.
• Deep knowledge of programming in Java, Golang, Python, or Ruby.
• Experience owning and operating multiple instances of a critical service.
• Experience with Agile development methodology and Test Driven Development.
• Experience with critical infrastructure services including monitoring, alerting, logging, and reporting applications.
• Experience with distributed database system and relational databases like Postgres is a plus.
• A genuine AI-first approach to engineering; using AI to move faster and enable reliable production-ready outputs.
• Advanced prompt engineering skills and the ability to craft precise prompts to establish reliable system context.

Responsibilities

• Deliver cloud infrastructure automation tools and validation platforms on major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, Alibaba).
• Design, develop, debug, and operate resilient distributed systems across thousands of compute nodes and data centers.
• Build production-grade software using modern engineering practices with AI tooling to push the boundaries of AI development.
• Contribute to open source tech (Spinnaker, Zookeeper, etc.).
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform.
• Write microservices on containerization frameworks (Kubernetes, Docker, Mesos).
• Design and orchestrate systems where AI agents integrate into human workflows at scale.
• Evaluate code (human or AI-generated) for correctness, quality, security, and performance.
• Address on-call rotations to keep services operational and highly available.
