Job summary

MISUMI Americas, based in Oakland, CA, is seeking a Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer to own and evolve our AWS infrastructure across multi-regional deployments. This onsite role requires hands-on work with CloudFormation and Node.js, building tooling, automations, and CI/CD pipelines to keep deployment, monitoring, and platform operations reliable and cost-efficient.

Qualifications

10+ years in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
5+ years hands-on Node.js development — building services, automation, or internal tools, not just deployments.
Expert-level, hands-on AWS experience across EC2, Lambda, IAM, VPC, S3, CloudWatch, RDS, CodeBuild, and Elastic Beanstalk.
Extensive CloudFormation experience: authoring and maintaining complex templates, stacks across environments, updates, rollbacks, drift detection.
Strong track record designing and operating CI/CD pipelines.
Hands-on experience debugging systems and applications in production.
Solid grasp of AWS security best practices — IAM, networking, encryption, least-privilege access.
Strong Linux systems experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure using CloudFormation as our primary IaC tool.
Own and evolve AWS environments for high availability, scalability, failover, and security.
Lead infrastructure projects from planning through execution, mentoring a small team.
Build and maintain Node.js-based tools for automation, deployment workflows, monitoring, and platform operations.
Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments.
Set up and manage logging, monitoring, and alerting across AWS environments.
Perform infrastructure upgrades and improvements while minimizing downtime.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across infrastructure, applications, and CI/CD systems.
Drive initiatives to improve performance, reliability, security posture, and cost efficiency.
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, security, and operations.
Maintain documentation of infrastructure, automation, and operational processes.
