Job summary

MISUMI Americas in Oakland, CA is seeking a Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer to own our AWS infrastructure across multi-regional platforms. This hands-on role emphasizes CloudFormation, Node.js tooling, and end-to-end infrastructure projects.

You'll mentor a small team, drive CI/CD, ensure reliability and security, and collaborate with engineering, security, and product teams as we scale our global platform.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure or related roles.
• 5+ years hands-on Node.js coding for services/tools.
• Expert-level AWS experience across EC2, Lambda, IAM, VPC, S3, CloudWatch, RDS, CodeBuild, Elastic Beanstalk.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure using CloudFormation as the primary IaC tool.
• Own and evolve AWS environments for high availability, scalability, security.

MISUMI Americas builds the digital infrastructure behind how the world's hardware gets designed and manufactured. We're looking for a Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer to take ownership of the AWS infrastructure that runs our multi-regional, global platform — someone who wants to be hands‑on with CloudFormation and Node.js every day, not just architecting on a whiteboard.

This is a builder's role. You'll lead infrastructure projects end to end — architecture, implementation, debugging, optimization — while writing the Node.js tools and services that keep deployment, monitoring, and platform operations running smoothly. You'll work closely with engineering, security, and product teams to keep our systems reliable, secure, scalable, and cost‑efficient as we grow.

This position is based in Oakland, CA. Candidates must be located in Oakland or the greater Bay Area and able to work onsite as required.

What You'll Own

• Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure using CloudFormation as our primary Infrastructure-as-Code tool
• Own and evolve our AWS environments for high availability, scalability, failover, and security
• Lead infrastructure projects from planning through execution, mentoring and guiding a small team
• Build and maintain Node.js–based tools and services for automation, deployment workflows, monitoring, and platform operations
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments
• Set up and manage logging, monitoring, and alerting across our AWS environments
• Perform infrastructure upgrades and improvements while minimizing downtime
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across infrastructure, applications, and CI/CD systems
• Drive initiatives that improve performance, reliability, security posture, and cloud cost efficiency
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, security, and operations
• Maintain clear documentation of infrastructure, automation, and operational processes
• Contribute to and uphold MISUMI Americas' Quality Management System (QMS)

What You Bring

Location & Authorization

• Based in Oakland, CA / greater Bay Area, with the ability to work onsite as required
• U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder)

Experience

• 10+ years in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Systems Engineering
• 5+ years of hands‑on, production experience writing Node.js code — building services, automation, or internal tools, not just deploying Node.js applications
• Expert‑level, hands‑on AWS experience across EC2, Lambda, IAM, VPC, S3, CloudWatch, RDS, CodeBuild, and Elastic Beanstalk
• Extensive, real‑world CloudFormation experience: authoring and maintaining complex templates, managing stacks across multiple environments, and handling updates, rollbacks, drift detection, and full stack lifecycle management
• Strong track record designing and operating CI/CD pipelines
• Hands‑on experience debugging systems and applications in production
• Experience with database performance tuning and optimization
• Solid grasp of AWS security best practices — IAM, networking, encryption, least‑privilege access
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience leading or mentoring engineers on infrastructure projects
• Experience operating multi‑region or globally distributed AWS environments
• Familiarity with containerized workloads (ECS, EKS)
• Background in fast‑growing or high‑scale engineering organizations
