Job summary

MISUMI Americas, based in Oakland, CA, is seeking a Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer to own and evolve our AWS infrastructure across multi-regional deployments. This onsite role requires hands-on work with CloudFormation and Node.js, building tooling, automations, and CI/CD pipelines to keep deployment, monitoring, and platform operations reliable and cost-efficient.

• 10+ years in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
• 5+ years hands-on Node.js development — building services, automation, or internal tools, not just deployments.
• Expert-level, hands-on AWS experience across EC2, Lambda, IAM, VPC, S3, CloudWatch, RDS, CodeBuild, and Elastic Beanstalk.
• Extensive CloudFormation experience: authoring and maintaining complex templates, stacks across environments, updates, rollbacks, drift detection.
• Strong track record designing and operating CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on experience debugging systems and applications in production.
• Solid grasp of AWS security best practices — IAM, networking, encryption, least-privilege access.
• Strong Linux systems experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer

MISUMI Americas | Oakland, CA (Onsite / Local Candidates Required) Base Salary: $180,000 – $220,000 USD Depending on Experience

MISUMI Americas builds the digital infrastructure behind how the world’s hardware gets designed and manufactured. We’re looking for a Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer to take ownership of the AWS infrastructure that runs our multi-regional, global platform — someone who wants to be hands‑on with CloudFormation and Node.js every day, not just architecting on a whiteboard.

This is a builder’s role. You’ll lead infrastructure projects end to end — architecture, implementation, debugging, optimization — while writing the Node.js tools and services that keep deployment, monitoring, and platform operations running smoothly. You’ll work closely with engineering, security, and product teams to keep our systems reliable, secure, scalable, and cost‑efficient as we grow.

This position is based in Oakland, CA. Candidates must be located in Oakland or the greater Bay Area and able to work onsite as required.

What You’ll Own

• Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure using CloudFormation as our primary Infrastructure‑as‑Code tool
• Own and evolve our AWS environments for high availability, scalability, failover, and security
• Lead infrastructure projects from planning through execution, mentoring and guiding a small team
• Build and maintain Node.js‑based tools and services for automation, deployment workflows, monitoring, and platform operations
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments

What You Bring

Location & Authorization

• Based in Oakland, CA / greater Bay Area, with the ability to work onsite as required
• U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder)

Experience

• 10+ years in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Systems Engineering
• 5+ years of hands‑on, production experience writing Node.js code — building services, automation, or internal tools, not just deploying Node.js applications
• Expert‑level, hands‑on AWS experience across EC2, Lambda, IAM, VPC, S3, CloudWatch, RDS, CodeBuild, and Elastic Beanstalk
• Extensive, real‑world CloudFormation experience: authoring and maintaining complex templates, managing stacks across multiple environments, and handling updates, rollbacks, drift detection, and full stack lifecycle management
• Strong track record designing and operating CI/CD pipelines
• Hands‑on experience debugging systems and applications in production
• Experience with database performance tuning and optimization
• Solid grasp of AWS security best practices — IAM, networking, encryption, least‑privilege access
• Strong Linux systems experience
