Job summary

Foley is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to own the reliability, security, and performance of our cloud-based data platforms. You will manage AWS Redshift and SQL Server environments, design HA/DR, and lead data warehouse operations in AWS to support reporting and AI use cases.

The role emphasizes optimizing data security, automation, and cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and Analytics teams, with EST hours and US-based remote work.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience managing production database environments.
• Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning, indexing, and HA/DR.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS data warehouse technologies, including Amazon Redshift.
• Proven experience managing database security, access controls, and permissions in regulated environments.
• Demonstrated AI fluency, with automation or AI-enabled tool usage to improve reliability, monitoring, or efficiency.
• Exposure to data engineering pipelines or analytics platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead administration, monitoring, tuning, and optimization of Microsoft SQL Server and Amazon Redshift environments.
• Design and maintain high availability, backup, and disaster recovery strategies that meet business SLAs.
• Lead data warehouse operations in AWS.
• Own and optimize AWS-based data warehouse architecture for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Partner with Data and Analytics teams to support reporting, analytics, and AI use cases.
• Own database security across platforms, including user access, roles, permissions, encryption, and auditing.
• Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to data access, integrity, and availability.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, and Analytics teams to align database solutions with product and business needs.
• Improve reliability through automation, scripting, and proactive monitoring.
• Use AI to maintain, scale, and improve DBA operations and architecture.
