Job summary

The Hartford's Data Analytics and AI Office (DAIO) – and Data Platform Services (DPS) Team is seeking a Senior Staff Platform Engineer to lead cloud data platform initiatives and collaborate with architects across the organization.

This hands-on role requires 6+ years in cloud and data platform work, with strong experience in AWS and GCP, IaC, and DevOps practices to drive adoption and deliver scalable solutions for analytics users.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in CS/Engineering, or equivalent experience.
6+ years in cloud computing, data delivery, analytics, or equivalent.
3+ years providing architectural guidance to developers or platform admins.
2+ years designing solutions in AWS and GCP.
Ability to learn new technologies quickly and perform major responsibilities in 6-12 months.
Experience with agile Scrum and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

Analyze industry trends in cloud computing and data platform technologies.
Work with architects across the organization to advance DAO technical capabilities.
Translate trends into actionable platform capabilities.
Design target state platform architectures with reusable patterns.
Define strategy and roadmaps to guide transformation efforts.
Create architecture patterns for Cloud Data ecosystems (AWS, PySpark, Snowflake, Tableau, ThoughtSpot).
Collaborate with internal customers to evaluate needs and provide architectural guidance for solutions.
Build IaC and Cloud platforms to support POCs of new technologies.
Incorporate DevOps and DataOps practices to drive automation and adoption.
