Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help design and implement the next generation of cloud compute within the Akamai Connected Cloud.

You will work on core compute platform infrastructure, APIs, and orchestration across ARM64 and x86_64 environments. You will collaborate with Linux systems and hardware teams to optimize performance, reliability, and multi-core scalability while using Python, Go, C/C++, or Rust.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Python, Go, C/C++, or Rust.
• Experience with cloud compute virtualization technologies (KVM, QEMU) and container runtimes.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing backend compute services and APIs for ARM64 and x86_64 instance management.
• Expanding platform functionality, orchestration tools, and APIs for cloud compute provisioning.
• Contributing to production support and solving low-level compute system issues.
• Partnering with cross-functional teams to integrate ARM server hardware and optimize performance.
• Improving compute platform performance, scalability, and reliability.
