Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior II Software Engineer to help design and implement the next generation of cloud computing within the Akamai Connected Cloud.

You will work on core compute platform infrastructure, APIs, and orchestration across ARM64 and x86 environments. Join a team focused on scalable, high-density compute, with collaboration across global teams, code reviews, and mentorship for junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or its equivalent.
• Extensive experience with the full software development life cycle including code reviews, release management and support.
• Proficiency developing software in Python, Go, C/C++, or Rust.
• Experience with cloud compute virtualization technologies (KVM, QEMU), container runtimes, Linux system APIs, or hypervisor integration.
• Experience with web application development, microservices, micro-orchestration, RESTful APIs, and database design patterns.
• Excellent debugging, profiling, and troubleshooting skills across distributed Linux systems and database layers.

Responsibilities

• Designing and scaling ARM64 compute platform functionality, hypervisor integration, and instance management across ACC.
• Developing low-level platform services, resource orchestration tools, and compute APIs using Python, Go, or compiled systems languages.
• Designing, implementing, reviewing, documenting, and testing high quality code in close collaboration with your team.
• Working closely with peers, and coordinating with global teams to build new features or resolve software Bugs.
• Participating in technical design reviews and mentoring junior team members on infrastructure initiatives.
