Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior II Software Engineer to help design and scale the next generation of cloud computing in the Akamai Connected Cloud.

You will work on core compute platform infrastructure, APIs, and platform services, collaborating with QEMU, Linux, and hardware teams to enable high-density, scalable compute across worldwide environments. The role emphasizes hands-on systems programming with Python/Go/C/C++/Rust, involvement in SDLC, and mentoring teammates.

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Experience across full software development life cycle
• Proficiency with Python, Go, C/C++, or Rust
• Cloud compute virtualization technologies and RESTful APIs
• Debugging and troubleshooting distributed Linux systems

Responsibilities

• Designing and scaling ARM64 compute platform functionality, hypervisor integration, and instance management across ACC.
• Developing low-level platform services, resource orchestration tools, and compute APIs.
• Designing, implementing, reviewing, documenting, and testing high quality code with the team.
• Collaborating with peers and global teams to build new features or resolve software bugs.
• Mentoring junior team members on infrastructure initiatives.
