Job summary

Smile Digital Health is seeking a Cloud Engineer (Automation) to design, build, and operate production-grade automation for our health data platform. You will own build and release engineering, IaC pipelines, and on-demand environments across Azure services while driving GitOps and AI-enabled improvements.

The role partners with Platform Engineering, Solution Engineering, Service Operations and QA to reduce manual work, optimize costs, and accelerate deployment from commit to running

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on cloud engineering, DevOps and/or platform engineering with IaC and CI/CD on Microsoft Azure.
• Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Terraform, Helm and Azure DevOps pipelines; GitOps delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own build and release engineering; consolidate Azure DevOps pipelines into shared templates with quality gates.
• Automate patching, certificate rotation, environment scaling, and recurring reports.
• Implement GitOps-based continuous delivery with drift detection and rollback.
• Automate end-to-end provisioning for Azure services and applications in on-demand environments.
• Automate business continuity and disaster recovery with backup validation and DR drills.
• Harden and upgrade Helm and Terraform configurations; maintain modules and state boundaries.
• Run in-cluster platform services deployed via Helm; ensure availability with autoscaling and health checks.
• Automate guardrails: policy-as-code, security scanning, and alerts-as-code.
• Contribute to AI enablement and build reusable playbooks in the shared library.
