Job summary

State of North Carolina - Public Instruction seeks a Cloud Architect (NS) to lead design and implementation of secure, scalable cloud solutions for the DPI enterprise. You will shape cloud landing zones, networking, identity, and governance, collaborating with cybersecurity, data, and application teams to meet regulatory and operational needs.

The role emphasizes observability, cost management, encryption, and guardrail policy development, ensuring production readiness and ongoing modernization

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE or closely related field plus six years of progressive IT experience including four years in cloud architecture design/implementation.
• Experience designing, implementing, or maturing Microsoft Azure cloud environments, including landing zones, hub-spoke networking, private endpoints, Azure Firewall, Entra ID integration, Azure Monitor, Key Vault, and Azure Policy.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and Git-based deployment workflows; strong emphasis on cost governance and security compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and mature secure, scalable, reliable, and cost-effective cloud solutions that meet DPI requirements.
• Design and guide cloud landing zones, network segmentation, identity integration, policy enforcement, logging, and cost governance.
