Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Solutions Architect in Austin to design cloud solutions on AWS/Azure, mentor engineers, and partner with sales during pre-sales to communicate technical value.

The role focuses on migration planning, architecture workshops, and creating reference architectures for scalable, secure cloud deployments. Experience with VMware and hybrid cloud is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Solutions Architecture, Solutions Engineering, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
• Strong knowledge of AWS and/or Microsoft Azure services, architecture best practices, and cloud-native design principles.
• Experience with VMware virtualization, infrastructure modernization, and cloud migration planning.
• Familiarity with the AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) is highly desirable.
• Experience presenting technical solutions to both technical and executive stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design AWS, Azure, and hybrid cloud solutions that align with customer business and technical requirements.

• Lead customer discovery sessions, architecture workshops, technical presentations, and proof-of-concept activities.
• Develop migration strategies for VMware and on-premises workloads moving to AWS and Azure.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Delivery teams to ensure proposed solutions are scalable, supportable, and aligned with LightEdge service offerings.
• Create architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and reusable reference architectures.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer engagement lifecycle.
• Mentor team members and contribute to architectural standards, best practices, and knowledge sharing.
• Stay current on AWS, Azure, cloud modernization strategies, and emerging technologies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Solutions Architecture, Solutions Engineering, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification preferred or required, with Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification considered a strong plus.
• Strong knowledge of AWS and/or Microsoft Azure services, architecture best practices, and cloud-native design principles.
• Experience with VMware virtualization, infrastructure modernization, and cloud migration planning.
• Familiarity with the AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) is highly desirable.
• Experience with Azure migration and modernization programs is a plus.
• Working knowledge of networking, storage, identity and access management (IAM/Microsoft Entra ID), security, backup, disaster recovery, and hybrid cloud architectures.
• Experience supporting enterprise sales opportunities and presenting technical solutions to both technical and executive stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts.
• Experience with technologies such as Dell Technologies, Cisco, backup and recovery platforms, or managed services is a plus.
• Candidates with strong infrastructure architecture experience who demonstrate a commitment to developing AWS and Azure cloud architecture expertise will also be considered.
