Job summary

Simpson Strong-Tie is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and support cloud-based APIs and services that power next-generation engineering applications. You will help modernize our software platform from desktop to cloud-hosted services on Azure, influence technical direction, and mentor teammates as our platform evolves.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C# and .NET (ASP.NET Core).
• Experience building RESTful APIs and distributed services.
• Experience designing scalable client-server or cloud-native applications.
• Experience with relational databases and data modeling (T-SQL / Azure SQL).
• Experience implementing automated testing strategies (unit, integration).
• Experience with Git-based source control workflows.
• Experience Agile / Scrum environments.
• Strong system design, debugging, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor or guide other engineers.
• Microsoft Azure services: App Services, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Storage, Application Insights, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Managed Identity.
• Microservice and service-oriented architecture design patterns.
• Event-driven systems and messaging patterns (Azure Service Bus / Event Grid).
• CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Containerization: Docker and Kubernetes (AKS).
• Observability/monitoring (Application Insights / OpenTelemetry).
• OpenAPI / Swagger API documentation.
• OAuth2/OpenID Connect/Microsoft Entra ID auth.
• Experience modernizing legacy desktop apps.
• WPF or desktop app development (C++/C#).
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / Bicep / ARM).
• Building industry software experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support scalable cloud-native services and APIs using C# and ASP.NET Core.
• Collaborate to modernize desktop app functionality into cloud-hosted solutions.
• Design and implement secure, observable, and resilient distributed systems using Azure.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and architecture discussions.
• Develop automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes.
• Participate in Agile planning, standups, sprints, and retrospectives.
• Mentor team members and drive engineering standards.
