Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. invites a Principal Architect to lead the design and adoption of cloud-based technologies powering AI and platform capabilities across the firm.

You will shape foundational platform architecture for neocloud, on-premises, and appliance environments, ensuring portability, resilience, and strong governance. You will bridge vision and engineering across a globally distributed organization, driving multi-year roadmaps, secure production code, and architected patterns for AI

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on architecture concepts and 10+ years applied experience.
• Hands-on system design, development, testing, and operations across large-scale environments.
• Expertise in one or more programming languages with production-grade coding skills.
• Deep knowledge of software architecture, cloud, AI/ML, or mobile disciplines.
• Experience applying AI capabilities within architecture workflows with data sensitivity awareness.
• Ability to evaluate and integrate AI-enabled capabilities into scalable platforms with security and auditability.
• Experience leading a product as a product owner/manager and aligning technical direction to business outcomes.
• Ability to present complex architectural concepts to senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Advise cross-functional teams on technology selection and integration patterns to reach target-state architecture.
• Define and document foundational platform architecture for diverse environments (neocloud, on-premises, appliances).
• Ensure platform alignment with firm-wide control plane architecture and data/service abstraction for various deployments.
• Guide architectural reviews through gates (plan, build, deploy, operate) with required evidence and approvals.
• Develop multi-year architecture roadmaps aligned with AI priorities and engineering capacity.
• Specify new architectural patterns to enable AI capabilities within governance constraints.
• Apply enterprise AI capabilities to accelerate architecture decisions with human-in-the-loop validation.
