Job summary

BMO Financial Group is seeking a Principal AI & Cloud Engineer to design, build, and scale cloud-native AI infrastructure across the enterprise. You will define patterns, mentor engineers, and partner with teams to deliver governance‑driven AI at scale.

You will drive platform roadmaps, implement secure and observable AI services, and optimize costs while enabling rapid, safe AI innovation across BMO’s cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
• Experience building and operating large-scale cloud infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of AI/ML infra including model serving, feature stores, and vector databases.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate cloud-native AI infrastructure for ML/GenAI workloads, including GPU/CPU clusters and autoscaling.
• Define reference AI infrastructure architectures on cloud (Azure preferred) and drive multi-region HA/DR patterns.
• Mentor engineers and create reusable IaC modules, templates, and golden paths.
• Enable frontend and backend services for AI platforms with secure APIs and microservices.
• Drive FinOps, cost governance, and observability with SLOs/SLIs for infra services.
