Job summary

Mental Health America of South Central Kansas is seeking a Clinical Director for START Programs to provide clinical leadership for START services serving individuals with IDD and co-occurring behavioral health needs. The role supervises START Coordinators, guides complex clinical work, and ensures fidelity to the START model.

The position requires a Master's degree in psychology or related field with licensure, plus extensive IDD experience and START Coordinator certification within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in psychology or related clinical field with applicable licensure.
• Licensure required for clinical practice.
• Extensive experience serving people with IDD and co-occurring behavioral health needs.
• Training in assessment, diagnosis and evidence-based clinical interventions.
• START Coordinator certification within 12 months of hire.
• Strong clinical judgment, organization, communication, training, and systems collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical direction for START services aligned with goals and model standards.
• Supervises START Coordinators with coaching, development and accountability.
• Provides clinical consultation on complex presentations, records and support strategies.
• Prepares Coordinators for START certification and builds team competency through training.
• Plans and facilitates Clinical Education Team meetings and other consultations.
• Oversees accurate START documentation and data entry across the clinical team.
• Provides onsite observation, consultation and backup crisis support as needed.
• Reviews clinical documentation to promote trauma-informed, evidence-based practice.
• Guides development of positive support and interaction plans for complex needs.
• Monitors clinical quality, model fidelity, and opportunities for improvement.
• Partners with Medical Director for clinical consultation on complex START cases.
• Provides training to families, providers, and community partners.
• Builds community relationships and supports team collaboration.
