Job summary

CHRISTUS Health Tyler is seeking a patient services/clerical specialist to greet and direct patients, verify demographics and insurance, and process payments. You will support scheduling, billing, and front-office tasks in a clinic setting.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills, familiarity with managed care, and experience with 10-key data entry. Per diem work and PRN shifts may apply, with a focus on accuracy and patient service.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of managed care preferred.
• Experience with 10-key calculator by touch and basic office technology.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and basic math knowledge.
• Some College preferred.
• Three+ years in a health care setting.
• ICD9 and CPT coding (advanced) preferred.
• Experience with charge posting or collections preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient check-in flow and verify demographic and insurance information.
• Answer phones, take messages, and assist with inquiries.
• Respond to requests for patient account corrections and maintenance.
• Schedule patient appointments per physician guidelines.
• Collect time of service payments and arrange payment plans as needed.
• Assist with front office duties and denials/claims workflows.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Communicate clearly and in line with CHRISTUS Mission.
