Job summary

UC San Diego is seeking a Climbing Wall Program Manager to provide strategic leadership for climbing wall operations, safety, budget planning and staff management. The role oversees route setting, facility scheduling, risk controls and program development while ensuring inclusive experiences for all patrons.

You'll supervise student staff, coordinate with Recreation's teams, and contribute to ongoing program improvements and events.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of climbing wall operations, route setting and safety practices.
• Proven ability to lead large, diverse recreational programs and events.
• Strong budget planning and cost control for program operations.
• Excellent communication, supervision and staff development skills.
• Experience in risk management and incident response within a campus setting.
• Ability to partner with marketing, fiscal, operations and risk teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for climbing wall programs and facility management.
• Oversee staff recruitment, onboarding, supervision, training and performance development.
• Develop budgets, schedules, risk plans and safety procedures for operations.
• Collaborate with departments to promote programs and events and ensure quality experiences.
• Monitor program effectiveness through data, feedback and benchmarking.
• Respond to emergencies and ensure safe, inclusive experiences for patrons.
