Job summary

Associated Students, San Diego State University, is seeking a Climbing Supervisor to oversee climbing programs, wall operations, classes, gear rental and events on campus. You will manage staff, schedule programs, ensure safety compliance, and collaborate with marketing to promote events.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in supervisory roles in recreation climbing, a Bachelor’s in a related field is preferred, and the position requires flexibility for evenings and weekends to match program

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, in Kinesiology, Recreation or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of experience administering recreation climbing programs; college campus experience preferred.
• Two years supervisory/management experience required.
• Experience hiring, training, evaluating and supervising staff.

Responsibilities

• Supervises planning, organization, and implementation of climbing programs (wall operations, classes, gear rental, team building).
• Hires, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates program staff.
• Ensures compliance with policies and procedures of the university and Associated Students.
• Maintains climbing wall and equipment; manages safety.
• Assists with promotional materials and social media; supports department sustainability initiatives.
