ANTHC invites an experienced engineer to lead climate adaptation projects in Alaska Native communities, focusing on permafrost-related design and risk assessments. The role emphasizes portfolio management, coordination with tribal partners, and ensuring projects meet long‑term resilience goals.

The position spans planning through closeout, requiring strong collaboration, budgeting, and technical oversight across remote communities and infrastructure initiatives.

Qualifications

• B.S. in engineering or related field required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required for higher levels and may be required to obtain Alaska PE within 12 months.
• Experience with climate adaptation, hazard mitigation, or rural Alaska infrastructure projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of complex climate adaptation projects for Alaska Native communities.
• Lead planning, scope development, funding acquisition, design, construction and closeout.
• Collaborate with communities, partners, ANTHC staff, and grant writers to identify funding and ensure project success.
• Review technical studies and designs to ensure they meet program requirements and hazard reduction standards.
• Provide leadership and guidance to teams and help develop staff skills.
