Job summary

Cleary Gottlieb is seeking a Senior Client Account Specialist in Washington, DC to drive billing and collections for assigned partners and practice groups. You will collaborate with Finance teams to ensure timely invoices, accurate AR, and compliance with client outside counsel guidelines.

The role demands 4–5 years of billing experience in a professional services or law firm, strong Excel/Word skills, and excellent communication abilities. Evening/weekend flexibility is required.

Responsibilities

• Drive the billing and collection process to ensure accurate and timely invoicing and payment of clients.
• Monitor monthly aging AR reports and take action to ensure invoices are paid on time.
• Update key finance reports daily to support Senior Management.
• Handle complex billing and ensure timely, accurate billing and collections.
• Follow-up with partners on billing or collection issues or delays.
• Prepare bills with detailed narratives and apply transfers and on-account uses.
• Review engagement letters and outside counsel guidelines to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with Pricing Operations and ebilling to ensure client invoice accuracy.
• Lead regular UBT/AR meetings with assigned partners.
• Monitor bill processing status and perform necessary follow up.
• Ensure successful submission of E-Billing via Billblast or client vendors.
• Support client account managers and finance teams in day-to-day operations.
• Participate in ad hoc client analysis projects and complex matters.
