Job summary

MITRE is seeking experts in AI/ML to advance national security and public-interest projects. You will lead AI initiatives, select models for production, and build robust data pipelines and studies with small teams.

You will prototype solutions, document findings, and help transition concepts into wider use. A Top Secret/Security clearance is required, with heavy onsite presence and collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in AI with a related degree or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience fine-tuning, deploying, and evaluating large language models and/or Agentic AI.
• Proficient in Python and AI frameworks such as HuggingFace, PyTorch, and MLFlow.
• Ability to work independently to learn new technologies, methods, processes, and systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to articulate complex ideas.
• Active TS/SCI with Full Polygraph clearance; U.S. citizen per eligibility rules.
• Position requires a minimum of 4 days on-site per week.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership by applying data analysis and AI techniques to sponsor missions.
• Select and evaluate AI models; tailor them for production and measure effectiveness.
• Design and implement data normalization and ETL for studies and analyses.
• Define and execute technical studies including hypothesis, design, and experiments with small teams.
• Propose approaches and prototypes to validate study concepts and mission value.
• Document prototypes and results to transition to wider production use.
