Job summary

MITRE’s Systems Engineering Analytics group seeks a Data Scientist to apply statistical analysis, ML/AI, and data engineering to mission-critical problems. You will prepare, analyze, and deliver analytic capabilities for government sponsors, guiding model selection and integration into operational systems.

You will mentor teammates, communicate complex results clearly, and help shape data architecture and evaluation benchmarks for secure, impactful solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in CS, Data Science, Statistics, or related field with experience.
• Hands-on statistical analysis and ML techniques, model development and evaluation.
• Proficiency in Python or R and SQL for data access and analysis.
• Experience with complex datasets and reproducible workflows.
• Ability to translate mission problems into analytical questions.

Responsibilities

• Lead data science and analytic efforts for national security problems.
• Develop, validate, and evaluate models and analytic solutions.
• Communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
