Job summary

ERG is a research and consulting firm in Washington, DC, seeking an experienced engineer with a strong background in Clean Air Act statutes, permitting, and air quality modeling. The candidate will perform and review AERMOD/AERSCREEN analyses, establish meteorology and emissions, and evaluate NOx to NO2 conversions and NAAQS compliance.

The role includes drafting Clean Air permits (Title V/PSD), reviewing permits and regulations, mentoring staff, and guiding multiple projects while communicating

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of Clean Air Act laws and regulations as they pertain to permitting.
• Minimum of five years of experience completing, reviewing, and/or evaluating air dispersion modeling analyses.
• Proficiency in the listed modeling tools and familiarity with EPA guidelines.
• Experience implementing Clean Air Act regulations, including drafting or reviewing permits.
• Strong writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform, review, and evaluate air dispersion modeling analyses using tools such as AERSCREEN and AERMOD.
• Draft Clean Air permits including Title V, PSD, and major nonattainment permits.
• Ensure permits comply with SIP rules, EPA regulations, and applicable statutes.
• Review draft regulations and research compliant alternative approaches.
• Mentor staff and manage multiple projects and teams.
• Prepare technical documents and client-ready reports.
