Job summary

Chubb External is seeking a Senior Claim Handler to oversee a book of complex asbestos, long-term exposure and environmental claims from first notice through resolution, with guidance from a Brandywine Vice President.

The role involves analyzing coverage, conducting investigations, negotiating cost sharing, appointing defense counsel, and advising management on resolution strategies while maintaining comprehensive claim records. Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze contracts, policies, and laws to determine coverage and resolve claims on reasonable terms and value.
• Conduct factual investigations with policyholders, remediation experts, counsel and others to gather all facts.
• Negotiate cost sharing agreements with carriers/policyholders.
• Assign defense counsel, and manage litigation strategy and budgets.
• Evaluate claims and make recommendations to management regarding claim resolution plans.
• Maintain physical/electronic claim files and claim information in claim systems.
• Respond to internal requests for information from management, reinsurers, auditors, etc.
• Prepare timely and accurate reports to management regarding significant claim developments.
• Provide high levels of service to Chubb business partners.
• Mentor/assist colleagues and share technical expertise with staff.
• Identify opportunities to enhance operations and communicate Brandywine’s objectives constructively.
• Some travel may be required.
