Job summary

Chubb Ltd. in the Brandywine unit seeks a Director of Claims to lead all aspects of claim handling for a book of complex asbestos, long-term exposure, and environmental claims from first notice through resolution, under guidance from a Brandywine Vice President.

You will manage investigations, negotiate cost-sharing, assign defense counsel, oversee litigation budgets, mentor staff, and report significant developments to management, while traveling as needed.

Responsibilities

• Analyze contracts, policies, law, and facts to determine coverage and resolve claims.
• Conduct factual investigations with policyholders, experts, counsel, and others.
• Negotiate cost-sharing agreements with carriers or policyholders.
• Assign defense counsel and manage litigation strategy and budgets.
• Evaluate claims and advise on resolution plans.
• Maintain physical/electronic claim files and data in systems.
• Respond to internal requests for information from management and reinsurers.
• Prepare timely reports on significant claim developments.
• Provide high-level service to Chubb business partners.
• Mentor colleagues and share technical expertise.
• Identify opportunities to improve operations and communicate them constructively.
• Some travel may be required.
