Job summary

Brighterway, a provider of AI-native claims software, is seeking a Senior Claims Manager for workers’ compensation to build and lead the claims operation. You will hire and manage adjusters, set quality standards, and own customer relationships at the leadership level.

You will partner with product and engineering on workflow design and reporting, drive program transitions, and represent Brighterway with customers, brokers, and regulators.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of workers’ compensation claims experience.
• Experience managing adjusters (3+ years).
• Experience with program transitions and RFP responses.
• Comfort with data, loss runs and dashboards.

It started in workers’ compensation medical-legal review with an agentic document pipeline that sorts, de-duplicates, and summarizes document-heavy files for national medical-evaluation networks. Brighterway is now building a full claims platform: intake across mail, fax, phone, and email, bill review, subrogation, reserving signals, workflow language, and state and federal reporting. Brighterway is backed by Y Combinator and Maverick Ventures, and runs HIPAA, SOC 2, and ISO 27001 programs because the platform handles PHI. The role The Senior Claims Manager will build and lead the claims operation: hire and manage adjusters, set quality standards, own customer relationships at the claims-leadership level, and decide with engineering what the platform does versus what people do. What you will do • Stand up and run the claims team, including staffing models, caseload standards, quality audits, and escalation paths. • Own claims outcomes for assigned customers and report on them. • Lead program transitions, including file transfer, data mapping, reserve review, and customer communication. • Partner with product and engineering on workflow design, automation, and reporting. • Represent Brighterway with customers, brokers, and regulators. What we look for • 8+ years of workers’ compensation claims experience, with at least 3 years managing adjusters. • A track record running a claims unit at a TPA, carrier, or large self-insured employer. • Experience with program transitions and RFP responses. • Comfort with data, loss runs, and dashboards. Nice to have • Federal programs experience (Longshore, Black Lung, FECA). • Multi-state experience across the Midwest and Appalachia.
